NWN Corporation Acquires the Networking Business of Xcelecom 
Acquisition Makes NWN One of North America’s Largest Networking Services Companies

WALTHAM , MA – NWN Corporation has announced the acquisition of the systems integration businesses of Xcelecom, Inc. from UIL Holdings Corporation of Connecticut. Xcelecom’s three strong operating units, 4Front Systems, Inc. and Datanet Services, Inc. (DSi) in North Carolina and The Datastore in the greater Philadelphia area, will be integrated into NWN. The combined organization will be one of the largest privately-owned networking companies in North America, with expected 2006 revenues of over $120 million. 

NWN President and CEO, Mont Phelps, remarks, “The Xcelecom companies are a perfect fit for NWN, both technically and culturally. Our businesses are individually outstanding in their geographic markets and highly complementary. We are each Cisco Gold and Microsoft Gold in our own territories. NWN has been turning in triple digit growth rates for the past several years. The company is on a track to become one of the premier networking services companies on the East Coast. EVP Mark Alexander, previously president of 4Front and DSi, comments, “We are excited about the future as part of a bigger company. This will enable us to bring new services to our clients and to give our employees more opportunities to grow and develop.”  

NWN will be broadening its highly-regarded 24/7 remote managed services to include customers in its new markets. “We have been providing managed services in New England for more than ten years,” explains EVP Skip Tappen, “and our new client base is eagerly lining up to sign on.”  

NWN intends to continue growing organically as well as through selected acquisitions. EVP Pat Kopins, formerly president of The Datastore, explains “Joining NWN will greatly accelerate our ability to expand in our region and beyond. Microsoft Nominates DSi/4Front (an NWN Company) "Partner of the Year"

DSi was recently nominated by a Microsoft Channel Area Manager to be its "Partner of the Year" in awards given at the Microsoft Annual Meeting. DSi was nominated based on various accomplishments in working with Microsoft to further enhance the value that Microsoft bring to its clients. Throughout the United States just nine companies were nominated for this prestigous award and while not selected for top recognition, DSi is proud to have been nominated.

DSi Re-certified as Cisco Gold Partner

DSi and sister companies 4Front Systems and The Datastore have again been awarded the Cisco Gold Partner certification. This is the second time the certification has been awarded and comes after a lengthy process. The Gold Certified Partner designation offers the highest level of credibility in the marketplace. Many governments and large corporations require Cisco Gold Certification as part of their Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
